Arizona Diamondbacks:

The Arizona Diamondbacks kicked off the Trade Deadline with the first trade of the deadline period with the acquisition of A.J Puk (4-8, 4.11 ERA and 49 K’s) with a trade with the Miami Marlins sending INF Deyvison De Los Santos (21 y/o prospect) and OF Andrew Pintar (23 y/o prospect) bringing a solid relief pitcher to the Diamondbacks bullpen who is already arguably one of the top 5 bullpens in the league and not losing to much in the process with the already strong farm system that the Diamondbacks have.

Once again the Diamondbacks made another deal with the Marlins towards the final hours on Tuesday sending INF Josh Bell for either a player to be named later or cash considerations. Diamondbacks are gonna look to Bell to produce early with Walker seeing his way to the 10 day DL. Bell will also be a very strong switch hitter in the lineup when the D-backs need him.

Final Grade: B+

The Diamondbacks get a strong B+, getting a strong INF like Josh Bell for practically a piece of candy and another good relief pitcher with A.J Puk for 2 prospects who haven’t been performing to how the Diamondbacks would have liked them too, the Diamondbacks are definitely ready to make another playoff push this year and with these acquisitions and players like Corbin Carroll starting to get out of his sophomore slump. This team will be one to look out for.

Atlanta Braves:

Well the Braves we’re just watching this deadline from the front office, contemplating whether they should make a trade and try to bite into the 7.5 game lead that the Phillies currently hold, injuries starting to stack up, it seemed inevitable that someone from the active roster would need to get traded if the Braves wanted to stay in the conversation for another playoff run, it happened. A trade, and it brought back none other then World Series MVP Jorge Soler (.240 AVG, 12 HR and 40 RBI’s. Also included in the trade was RP Luke Jackson (4-2, 5.40 ERA and 33k’s) and the Braves would send LHP Tyler Matzek (0-0, 9.90 ERA and 10k’s) and INF Sabin Caballos (.264 AVG, 4 HR, 38 RBI’s)

Final Grade: D+

With injuries starting to stack up, Acuna Jr being out for the season, 7.5 games behind the Phillies, i wish the Braves would have been a little more aggressive this deadline but i really do like the Braves getting the band back together with Jorge Soler and bringing in a solid relief pitcher in Luke Jackson and not giving up much in the process. Definitely look for this team to be active in free agency this upcoming 2025 season.

Baltimore Orioles:

With the Baltimore Orioles trying to go back to back as AL East champions and with the Yankees breathing down their neck only a half game behind for the lead, the Orioles definitely wanted to make a move that’d already help add more talent to a very young and explosive squad. Then the Phillies and the Orioles made a deal sending OF Austin Hays (.254 AVG, 18 RBI and 4 HR) to Baltimore and the Phillies acquiring RHP Seranthony Dominguez (3-2, 4.50 ERA and 42 K’s) and OF Cristian Pache (.210 AVG, 9 RBI and 0 HR) This is a really good move that brings a veteran like Austin Hays to the very young Orioles who is gonna join Anthony Santander who can hopefully help him find a flame being the home run king so far with 31 HR’s. The Orioles did give up a solid reliever but with names like Craig Kimbrel being your closer, i don’t think the Orioles are too worried.

As the seconds winded down to the 6PM ET deadline, the Orioles we’re frantically making calls to the White Sox trying to acquire a very strong DH that the White Sox have, who gets on base. Eloy Jimenez (.240 AVG, 16 RBI, 5 HR) is the newest Baltimore Oriole, the Orioles also received cash considerations which sent a very strong 26 year old prospect Trey McGough to the White Sox who has a career 2.98 ERA in his 238.1 IP. The White Sox will definitely look for Trey to come into the MLB as soon as possible and start performing for the underperforming White Sox.

Final Grade: B-

I really really like the Austin Hays and Eloy Jimenez pickups, filling a hole in the DH position and bringing a veteran like Austin Hays into the starting lineup will be really good for the Orioles. They really didn’t give up too much with a strong farm system already so losing a 26 year old prospect isn’t the end of the world for them, just like them losing Dominguez and Pache isn’t either. The Orioles wanna win, and these moves are gonna help them do that this season, and that cash from the White Sox will help in the offseason.

Boston Red Sox:

The Boston Red Sox have been struggling the last couple of years, with the Yankees and Orioles just slowly getting better by the year, and the Red Sox slowly falling off more and more every year from October baseball. This year is no different, being 7 games behind the number 1 Orioles and the Rays just a game and a half behind them for third place in the division, the Red Sox we’re desperate for some help and they we’re not quiet this deadline.

First Trade that the Red Sox completed is definitely pretty risky on both sides, the Dodgers and Red Sox agreed to a deal that sent 35 year old James Paxton (8-3, 4.52 ERA 69 K’s) to the Red Sox and the Dodgers receiving 17 year old Moises Bolivar who in 34 games has 20 RBI’s with 3 HR’s. The Red Sox will do everything they can to stretch out the last couple of years of what Paxton has left in the tank but if it’s anything like it is this season, i wouldn’t be too worried. Bolivar is very young but in his short time in the minors has impressive hitting stats, the Dodgers will hope he only improves on these stats and can be a solid infielder for a future retiree that’s on the starting roster currently.

Another trade that the Red Sox completed was C Danny Jansen (.219 AVG, 18 RBI’s and 6 HR’s) from Toronto in exchange for INFs Cutter Coffey (20 y/o prospect) and Eddinson Paulino (22 y/o prospect) and RHP Gilberto Batista. (19 y/o prospect). The Red Sox might have given up a shopping list of prospects but they get a really strong catcher behind the plate that they can look towards to and who doesn’t let a lot of balls get passed, catches tons of people stealing, and a amazing framer.

For the third and final trade that the Red Sox completed they acquired RHP Luis García (5-1, 3.71 ERA, 40 K’s) from Los Angeles Angels for INF/OF Matthew Lugo (23 y/o prospect) , INF Niko Kavadas (25 y/o prospect), RHP Ryan Zeferjahn (26 y/o prospect) and Yeferson Vargas. (19 y/o prospect)

Final Grade: C+

It was obvious that the Red Sox were gonna be huge buyers this trade deadline but they didn’t make the number of trades that i thought they would, they gave away tons of prospects who weren’t performing up to the Red Sox’s standards anyways but hopefully these moves don’t come and bite them, other then the number of moves and the prospects moved, i like the players acquired, i think it’s a little too late to make a playoff push but they have a solid foundation to be huge players in the free agency market and potentially be a playoff favorite next season.

Oakland Athletics:

Well, i wish this was a review for the season because i can say good things about this team all day, they have heavily improved from the team they were this last season but still need to make some moves to just push them over the edge that little bit to make them legit playoff contenders. A huge name that was thought to be available was Brent Rooker, age 29, Rooker has a .297 AVG, 77 RBI’s and 26 HR’s, on his way to have a career high season, you just have to think if Rooker will still be able to perform in a year or two from now. Rooker was excited to stay with the A’s as shown in the tweet below,

The Athletics did make a singular move at the deadline as they traded RHP Paul Blackburn (4-2, 4.41 ERA, 38k) to the New York Mets in exchange for RHP Kade Morris (22 y/o prospect, career 3.48 ERA and 98k’s) so this is a really good move, brings in some young blood into the farm system to develop into a solid fourth or fifth pitcher for the Athletics either come their playoff push next season when they go to Sacramento or when they go play in Vegas.

Final Grade: C-

The Athletics didn’t necessarily do bad this deadline but with a player like Brent Rooker who is leading multiple stats for the month of July, you’d think the Athletics would have tried to get a haul for a aging 29 year old Rooker. The Athletics made a solid acquisition with the 22 y/o prospect that will for sure be exactly what the A’s need in the future.

San Francisco Giants:

Well with the team that they have, we all thought they were gonna be playoff contenders no matter what. With the huge additions in the offseason, San Francisco committed over $320 million to six free agents — Jung Hoo Lee, Blake Snell, Matt Chapman, Jorge Soler, Jordan Hicks and Tom Murphy — and took on an additional $74 million by acquiring Robbie Ray from the Mariners, resulting in a revamped roster that will be intent on returning to the playoffs for the first time since 2021. But that did not happen, today July 31st, they are 10.5 games back behind the first place Dodgers and struggling. The Giants traded away Soler to the Braves which we talked about earlier but for the Giants side of the deal, it’s really really good, yes they might have lost Soler but Atlanta is picking up every penny of the contracts, paying in excess of $30 million. They will owe Soler $13 million in 2025 and $13 million in 2026, while Jackson has a $7 million club option or a $2 million buyout. They also owe Soler and Jackson about $5 million for the remainder of this season. So the Giants now have 30$ million just laying around, waiting for a cold day in December to bring a big named free agent maybe to the San Francisco area.

They also acquired cash considerations in exchange for RHP Mike Baurmann (3-0, 4.84 ERA, 33k)

Final Grade: C+

Even i think the C+ is a little high, i can’t help but really take a second look at the Soler trade and think that the Giants might have been the winners of that trade, they have far more money now to pay one or even two players this free agency period to bring some pop to the lineup, everyone is writing of the Giants deadline but i don’t think it was as bad as others teams, especially getting cash for a struggling pitcher. Solid moves by the Giants for a rebuild season to hopefully end the 3 year drought of no playoff appearances.

Los Angeles Dodgers:

Well, i personally didn’t think the Dodgers didn’t need to make any moves this deadline, maybe trade away some prospects for some cash but other then that, i thought they’d be relatively quiet, but they absolutely weren’t.

The Dodgers once again come out on top in the transaction period, they 100% get my gold star this year. Acquiring veterans RHP Jack Flaherty (7-5, 2.95 ERA and 133k), Switch hitter Tommy Edman, Amed Rosario (.307 AVG, 26 RBI’s and 2 HR’s), Michael Kopech (2-8, 4.74 ERA, 59K’s), and Kevin Kiermaier (.195 AVG, 18 RBI and 4 HR). These additions strengthen both their rotation and bench, with Edman and Rosario offering versatility on the field. Kopech’s potential shines, especially under the Dodgers’ pitching program. Impressively, the team enhanced their roster without a significant prospect cost, unlike some of their MLB rivals. Kiermaier’s addition, despite his planned retirement, could be crucial in a playoff scenario.

Final Grade: A+

The Dodgers are already such a strong and scary team, they have been my pick for the World Series since the acquisition of Ohtani, and being able to keep Kershaw so Ohtani can pick his mind as much as he can, this Dodgers team only improved, not losing much in the process, definitely look out for them to come out swinging as soon as October rolls around, cause i think it’s the Dodgers revenge season, and we’re all here just witnessing history.

Look the Pirates have potential, they are just a couple of moves from being the playoff team i know they can be. But right now they just aren’t, with star sensation like Paul Skenes who as a rookie, started his first MLB All Star Game, you just have to sit and wonder that if this will be another Angels and Ohtani situation, and what i mean by that is a generational talent, just waste away by only playing regular season baseball, i mean Trout has only seen 3 playoff games. I personally thought they’d be buyers this deadline to start improving and have a good solid foundation for a playoff run next season, but they didn’t go all in, but if i was a Pirates fan, the additions of Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Bryan De La Cruz would excited me and give me a reason to look forward to a second-half run on the strength of that exciting rotation. The Pirates also didn’t give up to much in return and maybe seeing some Pirates fans on Twitter saying they could have maybe pushed for a little more, i’m happy with what they gave away and brought in, The best prospect they sent away was Quinn Priester with a 3.81 ERA and 162 K’s) in return they got another prospect Nick Yorke who in his first season of Triple A play, he has 6 HR’s and 19 RBI’s.

Final Grade: C+

I wish that the Pirates were just a little more aggressive but for the gain and what they lost, they get a strong C+, just because there was still more work to do, in my opinion, you’d wanna build around Paul Skenes and let him know, yeah we might not be a playoff team this year or next season but stick around, keep pitching how you are and we’ll do our job. I really wanna see this Pirates team do well and with rookie sensation Paul Skenes, they’ll need to smell October quickly or Skenes will wanna test the market in the future.

New York Yankees:

The Yankees had mixed reactions to their trade deadline but that’s nothing new, but i myself absolutely love the moves that the Yankees made this deadline, with the Yankees struggling a little bit for some extra batting help and outfield help, they were able to kill two birds with one stone (Sorry Mom) and traded for Jazz Chisholm Jr ( .254 AVG, 58 RBI, 17 HR) who is a amazing athletic player who is sure to make the Yankees even more athletic and give Juan Soto even more of a reason to stay, and the Yankees didn’t give up to much in return, sending away C Agustín Ramírez (.234 AVG, 21 RBI, 4 HR) and INFs Jared Serna (22 y/o HIGH A Prospect) and Abrahan Ramírez (19 y/o prospect)

And as the final hours of the trade deadline approached, the Yankees made two more moves, the Yankees acquired RHP Mark Leiter (4.21 ERA, 2-4, and 53K’s) from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for INF Ben Cowles (24 y/o prospect) and RHP Jack Neely (24 y/o prospect).

They also acquired RHP Kelly Austin (23 y/o prospect) and an international signing bonus from Houston in exchange for LHP Caleb Ferguson (3.66 ERA, 1-3, 41 K’s)

Final Grade: B-

I really like the addition of Jazz, it’s definitely gonna help tie that outfield together and he will bring a strong and fun energy to the clubhouse, the Yankees also didn’t lost much by dealing away multiple struggling prospects, so i’m excited to see the future of this Yankees club and see how far they get with their new man, Jazz Chisholm Jr.

Philadelphia Phillies:

Hours after Rob Thomson said he was content with the ball club he had, the Philadelphia Phillies finalized two deals just minutes prior to Tuesday’s MLB trade deadline. The Phillies acquired Tanner Banks from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for High A infielder William Beregolla, adding another bullpen piece to a unit that needed some reinforcements in the coming weeks.

Once the Phillies acquired Banks, they traded Gregory Soto to the Baltimore Orioles for minor league pitchers Seth Johnson and Moises Chace. In what appeared to be a slow deadline day for the Phillies, turned out to be four trades over the span of five days to bolster the club.

Joining the Phillies over the last few days are Austin Hays OF , Carlos Estevez (Closer) and Banks (left-handed reliever). Leaving the major league roster are Seranthony Dominguez RHP, Cristian Pache OF , and Gregory Soto LHP

Minor tweaks to a championship-contending roster for a major payout come October.

The Phillies didn’t part ways with any of their big prospects to make these deals. Their top-10 prospects all remain in the system (via MLB.com) as the deadline passes. Of the top 30 prospects in the system, William Bergolla (No. 11), Samuel Aldegheri (No. 23) and George Klassen (No. 28) were dealt. Bergolla and Klassen were rising prospects at High-A Jersey Shore while Aldegheri made just two starts at Double-A Reading when he was dealt in the Estévez deal.

Rumors starting going around that the Phillies did appear to look at potentially acquiring another bat after the Hays trade, but the price wasn’t worth the cost.

Final Grade: B-

Some fans wanted more but i think this is perfect for them, they didn’t give up much to bring in some players and were able to keep absolutely everyone they planned to keep before the trade deadline, this team looks more ready then ever to make some noise come October, they are also on a revenge tour.
