The New York Yankees will be looking to add on to their legendary World Series count and make it 28 World Series wins. The Yankees have been playing incredible ball all season and that’s been led by Aaron Judge and Juan Soto who have put up very impressive numbers for the Yankees in the regular season. Who both combined for 99 home runs and 253 RBI’s, now the Yankees will look for them to help fuel the fire to help them get those early leads that New York will wanna take from the Dodgers.
The last time New York won it all, Mariano Rivera and Derek Jeter were active and Juan Soto had just celebrated his 11th birthday. It’s been 15 years since New York has been able to taste championship glory despite being close in years past. Now the Yankees will look for Aaron Judge who was one of the top hitters this season, leading the MLB in RBI’s, HR’s and OPS to turn it around in a very crucial World Series matchup. That regular season Judge hasn’t shown up this playoffs yet, but if it does, it is certain to create havoc for the Dodgers, as the Yankees lineup is a lot more extensive with power hitters compared to the Mets.
New York Yankees Game 1 Lineup Breakdown
Gleyber Torres will lead off this World Series taking the first At-Bat of this series. Torres this postseason, has batted a .297 with 5 RBI and 1 HR.
Soto bats second tonight as he has been super hot this postseason with a .333 AVG, 8 RBI and 3 HR’s.
Third in the lineup, is Aaron Judge, who we mentioned before is having a rough postseason, is batting a .161, 6 RBI and 2 HR’s.
Batting fourth is the standout batter so far for the Yankees this postseason, Giancarlo Stanton, your ALCS MVP, this postseason is batting a .294 with 11 RBI and 5 HR’s
Fifth is Jazz Chisholm Jr, who was acquired by the Yankees following a trade near the deadline. Jazz is batting a .147 with 1 RBI and 1 HR’s this postseason.
Sixth in the lineup is Anthony Rizzo, who will be looking for his 2nd World Series ring, Rizzo doesn’t have any RBI’s nor HR’s but he is batting a .429. Look for Rizzo to get some big things done.
Anthony Volpe will bat seventh tonight, Volpe is batting a .310 AVG this postseason with 1 RBI and 0 HR’s
Batting eighth for the New York Yankees is the catcher, Austin Wells. Who will be catching the balls and strikes from Gerritt Cole. Cole has pitched a 3.31 ERA , with 12 K’s and he’s currently 1-0.
Last but not least in this Yankees lineup is Alex Verdugo, he’s batting a .194 with 3 RBI’s and 0 HR’s.
On the bench is Jose Trevino, Oswaldo Cabrera, Jasson Dominguez and Trent Grisham, the Yankees opted in for the extra pitcher in this World Series 26-man roster.
Yankees Game 1 Starting Pitcher

Gerritt Cole will get the call for Game 1 tonight, Gerritt Cole who spent most of the season rehabbing a injury, is ready for a big game tonight. Cole has seen a fair amount of most of the Dodgers lineup, in 154 At-Bats, Cole has struck out 53 Dodgers, allowed 36 hits and 5 HR’s. A very solid Game 1 starter in my opinion that the Yankees have chosen here, look for the Dodgers to take advantage of any mistake that Gerritt Cole might make tonight.
Why i think the Yankees can win tonight:
If the Yankees are able to get Flaherty pulled early, look for the Yankees to test out the Dodgers bullpen as they have only elected for only one left-handed pitcher, now the Dodgers have one of the worst strikeout rates this postseason, so if the Yankees are able to get on base and bring those runners in, then look for the Yankees to pull out to a very early lead and a Game 1 victory.
I need to bring it up again, but watching Aaron Judge this postseason, just feels like a pot waiting to boil. If Judge gets a pitch he likes, it could be the start of Judge getting hot, which is exactly what the Yankees need to just make that 1-2-3-4 that more scary to face no matter who the pitcher is.
Los Angeles Dodgers – 1st NL West – 98-64
Dodgers batting stats in the NL
Doubles – 1st = 291
Home Runs – 1st = 233
SLG – 1st = .446

Total Bases – 1st = 2465
Dodgers pitching stats in the NL
Wins – 1st = 98
IP – 2nd = 1445.2

The last time the Dodgers played in the World Series, was in 2020, where the full series was played in Arlington Texas due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. These fans will be packing out the house tonight as they haven’t seen their team play at home in the World Series since 2018. This Dodgers team will be lead out by Shohei Ohtani, who has been on a huge tear this season following a injury that didn’t allow him to pitch this season. The dream for Ohtani to pitch in this series was thrown out the window as manager Dave Roberts said there would be ‘no possibility’ that Ohtani would pitch this 2024 World Series, which is probably for the best as this is the biggest investment the Dodgers have ever made for a player.
Los Angeles Dodgers Game 1 Lineup Breakdown
Batting 1st in his first career World Series, Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani is batting a impressive .286 with 10 RBI’s and 3 HR’s. He ranked first in Real’s season rankings this year.
Batting 2nd to Ohtani is Mookie Betts, who is playing in another World Series, Betts has batted a .295 with 12 RBI’s and 4 HR’s.
Freddie Freeman bats third tonight, Freeman who might still be dealing with a earlier injury, is batting a .219 with 1 RBI’s and 0 HR’s.
Batting cleanup tonight for the Los Angeles Dodgers is Teoscar Hernandez, who was also acquired at the trade deadline which is exactly the boost the Dodgers needed in the regular-season. Hernandez is batting a .200 with 8 RBI’s and 2 HR’s.
Max Muncy, Dodgers third baseman will bat fifth tonight in between both Hernandez’s, Muncy is batting a .242 with 5 RBI’s and 3 HR’s this postseason.
Enrique (Kike) Hernandez will bat sixth to finish the Hernandez sandwich, Kike is batting a impressive .303 with 5 RBI’s and 2 HR’s.
Catcher Will Smith who will be catching the balls and strikes tonight from Jake Flaherty is batting seventh tonight, Smith has batted a .158 with 6 RBI’s and 2 HR’s.
Eighth tonight in the lineup for the Dodgers is Gavin Lux, second baseman for the Dodgers is batting a .208 with 3 RBI’s and 1 HR.
Last but certainly not least is Tommy Edman, your NLCS MVP, Edman is batting a amazing .341 with 12 RBI’s and 1 HR. Edman will look to keep that fire going into Game 1 tonight.
On the bench for the Dodgers are Austin Barnes, Miguel Rojas, Andy Pages and Chris Taylor.
Dodgers Game 1 Starting Pitcher

Jake Flaherty will get the call for the mound tonight to get things started here tonight against the Yankees. Flaherty who was traded in at the deadline from the Tigers who we’re at a time where they we’re ready to sell the team. That trade ended up being very crucial for the Dodgers who ended up losing out on Clayton Kershaw this playoff series. Flaherty hasn’t seen much of the Yankees team but he will look to keep the Top 4 batters contained and leave a easy night for the bullpen tonight.
Reasons why i think the Dodgers will win tonight
First World Series in LA since 2018, Shohei Ohtani’s first World Series. All the stars are aligning for a amazing night at Dodger Stadium and the one thing that would be the cherry on the top, is a Dodgers Game 1 win. This Dodgers crowd is going to be loud and this Dodgers team feeds off of the crowd and eachother. If one of them gets hot, count on someone else to have a very good night as well. This Dodgers team is one of the scariest to make the postseason in a very long time, if they are able to get by Gerritt Cole and keep Soto and Judge at bay, this can be a very comfortable win for the Dodgers.
