It is arguably one of the best days in the NFL, the Trade Deadline, the final day where teams are allowed to swap players for picks, picks for picks, or even players for players. In this story, I will be breaking down some potential trades that could happen on this insane Tuesday. Strap in, today is gonna be fun.
Kansas City Chiefs

Sources from around the league are starting to say that the Chiefs are looking for one more trade to make, yes I know, how can they get any better? But realistically this chase for a 3-peat has come at the cost of some major injuries, including Juju-Smith who is out for a couple of weeks, Rashee Rice out for the season and Marquise Brown potentially seeing a return in the playoffs, Kansas City wouldn’t be opposed to adding another WR into the mix. As far as the defensive side of things, following the loss of Jaylen Watson (after trading L’Jarius Snead in the offseason) the depth at the CB position could be better for KC.
Now the Chiefs don’t have a ton of money to work with, as their available cap space is 3.4m, so if a trade were to happen, then the Chiefs would have to move some money around to make this happen. Now we won’t get into how they may restructure because that’s a front-office problem, but let’s talk about a potential trade that I think could happen.
Kansas City Chiefs receive:
Cleveland Browns receive:
2025 3rd round pick (via TEN)
League insiders are starting to say that the Cleveland Browns are starting to take calls for their star players, following a 2-7 start and losing Deshaun Watson to a season-ending injury, it seems like it’s a tank season for the Browns, and if they are serious about taking calls for their stars, I can see the Chiefs potentially making a push for a CB like Ward. Adding a CB like Ward would be a game-changing move for the Chiefs defense and just make them that much scarier for opposing offenses in their pursuit of a third consecutive Super Bowl. Pairing Ward with Trent Mcduffie can almost certify the Chiefs will be defending their title in the Super Bowl.

This move also works out heavily in the Chiefs favor as they wouldn’t even have to move any money around due to Ward’s low base salary this season which sits at 1.1m, now that does go up by 10m next season but for the Chiefs, I think that’s a problem you worry about after you’re putting the third consecutive trophy in the case.
I know the Chiefs are lacking at the WR position with injuries but with Brown potentially returning in the playoffs and the recent trade for Deandre Hopkins, I think the Chiefs will stay away from adding another WR to the roster.
-The Vikings are also actively looking for CBs this deadline according to NFL insiders, with about 7m available in the cap, look for them to potentially be looking at players like Ward, and adding some defensive line help.
-The Packers are also looking into top-end cornerbacks, with 13m available in the cap space, look for them to potentially bring a big name into Green Bay
-The Buccaneers are expected to be in the market for a high-end cornerback and are being aggressive, with 7.4m available in the cap, they will possibly be looking to trade away a big name or a high draft pick in the 2025 draft.
Cincinnati Bengals:
Word on the street is that the Bengals are looking to make some big moves this trade deadline, insiders are saying that the Bengals are pursuing a pass rusher and a running back, now the Bengals are at a nice comfortable margin to bring those two players in with a 9.1m available cap space, so with who might be actively selling, let’s work out two trades that might satisfy Bengals fans and coaches.

Carolina Panthers receive:
5th Round Pick *compensatory 4th round, if Clowney plays 50% of snaps*
Cincinatti Bengals receive:
NFL sources are saying that the Panthers are open to trading away their Pro Bowl players, well if this is true then I can see them parting ways with Clowney for some much-needed extra help in the draft department following the big trade in the 2023 season for Bryce Young. Now the Bengals are 4-5 and just a couple of wins away from being in the playoffs. Clowney’s base salary this season is 1.2m so that leaves the Bengals with 7.1m in the cap room this season. Let’s bring a RB to Cincinatti.
-The Lions are also actively looking for a top-end pass rusher, now I know this won’t be anywhere close to Hutchinson’s replacement but take note that they are actively shopping that market and are already in serious talks to acquire one. Lions have 27m to bring the best they can.
-The Ravens are shopping a pass rusher and are currently in talks to bring one to Baltimore
-The Eagles GM is also actively searching for defensive line help
-The 49ers are also searching for defensive line help and are interested in a WR.

Chicago Bears receive:
2026 7th round pick
Cincinnati Bengals receive:
Now I don’t think the Bears will be sellers this deadline, but Herbert is in the locker room with a stacked RB room, and the Bengals are looking for an RB, and the Bears want draft compensation. This deal works out for both sides as this helps the Bears keep bringing in those young players to help Caleb Williams. Herbert has 400+ yards in 3 seasons played (2021-2023) so this could be a solid addition to the backfield, especially with the workload he will receive once he arrives in Cincinnati with Herbert’s 1m base salary, this move puts the Bengals at 6.1m available in the cap, and if wanted can pursue another big name out there.
-The Cowboys are actively shopping the running back department but aren’t expected to make any big moves, but keep an eye out for the Cowboys giving a call to the Bears as the Cowboys have a deeper draft pick bank than the Bengals do.
Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders are currently in a very tight NFC battle where one bad week can bring you from a 2nd seed to a 5th seed, so with the tight race, the Commanders are actively shopping high-end cornerbacks and with 23m available, they are surely going to be aggressive, also with the news coming out of multiple players asking their agents to trade them to Washington, let’s go out and bring that extra push the Commanders need to win their division this season.

New York Jets receive:
3rd round 2025 pick *compensatory 2nd round if Gardner plays 75% of snaps*
Washington Commanders receive:
Now this trade might take a little more to complete but if the Commanders are serious about winning, they will need to go out a big name, this trade, would only add 2m to the cap space, and now some NFL fans are probably thinking I’m crazy that the Jets would trade away Gardner, but his stats aren’t the same as they were the past two seasons, and I think a change of scenery would be perfect for him. A swap of first-round CB’s and a little bit of extra sauce for the Jets could be exactly what both sides need. The Jets haven’t said that they would be willing to trade Gardner but he has said he would be ready to test the free agency market, if that’s not something the Jets wanna deal with, then make this trade. Then bring in a player who had the same stats as Gardner did in 2023.
Pittsburgh Steelers:
The Steelers are currently 6-2 going into the deadline, following an amazing 3-0 start, they are looking for a veteran WR to add to their WR room, and as I am writing this, I thought of the perfect addition to bring to Pittsburgh, he’s already played with Russell Wilson before, so getting used to the quarterback, shouldn’t be a issue for this WR. Plus with his base salary of 1m, this wouldn’t even be noticed in the 10m salary cap that the Steelers would have left if they did this trade.

Detroit Lions receive:
2025 5th round pick
Pittsburgh Steelers receive:
As I mentioned, during Wilson’s time in Denver, Patrick was around for that, he unfortunately never got to play with Wilson on the field but having known him in the locker room could help on both ends of the ball. Patrick is currently in the rotation position in a stacked Lions WR room, so the Lions receiving an extra draft pick that the Steelers can afford to lose, isn’t a bad idea, plus it brings that veteran WR that the Steelers are looking for.
Free Agency Notes-

–Falcons are aggressive in looking for some help in the defensive department, have made calls for linebackers but more specifically Azeez Ojulari from the Giants.
–Rams aren’t expected to make any moves.
-The Cardinals might not be done just yet, keep an eye out for them today.
–Giants have multiple players available, including Azeez and Darius Slayton
-The Broncos are currently in a rebuild, they don’t have lots of cap to work with but if they wanna potentially see bigger things this season, don’t be surprised for them to be a sneaky name today.
–Jaguars phone lines are open are ready for business.
-Despite taking multiple phone calls on him, the Colts are expected to retain Anthony Richardson this trade deadline
-A 6-3 start is good enough for the Texans to stay put this deadline
–Patriots are doing both buying and selling this deadline, keep an eye out for their name to be very active today.
-The Bills 7-2 start has made them quiet this deadline, if something amazing comes through, they won’t say no. But they aren’t actively shopping.
-The Dolphins are struggling, a 2-6 start for some teams means tank, but the Dolphins are expected to be aggressive today.
-The Raiders are expected to stay quiet following a 2-6 start.
-The Chargers have made calls but nothing is expected to happen.
