After 27 weeks of competition, it all comes down to this. 150 for Trucks. For the Championship trophy in their respective series.
4 drivers travel to Phoenix for their chance to put their name in the history books, it’s taken multiple races to get here, bent fenders, and hurt feelings but despite all that, we still have a champion to crown. Today we will be breaking down these drivers’ chances at winning the championship, cause remember, in this format, you don’t have to win the race to win the championship, you just have to finish ahead of the three other championship contenders.
Grant Enfinger: 2 wins, 7 top 5’s, 3 stage wins
Christian Eckes: 4 wins, 14 top 5’s, 11 stage wins
Ty Majeski: 2 wins, 9 top 5’s, 6 stage wins
Corey Heim: 6 wins, 13 top 5’s, 9 stage wins

This season has been a long battle between Corey Heim and Christian Eckes, but Enfinger and Majeski will not go down without a fight. Enfinger’s two wins this season have came in the playoffs, where he is getting hot at the exact moment, this will be Enfinger’s third appearance in the championship in the past five years. But don’t forget that Enfinger was just a couple of laps away from winning a championship until on Lap 120, Corey Heim wrecked Carson Hocevar after a earlier incident sent Heim spinning and his hopes for a championship lost.
Now I’m not trying to start anything but Enfinger was leading and then it essentially ruined his chances for a championship, now these drivers have a memory like a elephant, they remember things from 2011, so you have to think if Enfinger will decide to give him some payback following what happened last time they were at Phoenix.
Either way though, Enfinger is getting hot when it matters, and despite his best finish of 4th at Phoenix in 2018, he still has a strong shot at winning, as he has ran really well here in the past, the question will be though, if he needs to, will he be able to turn his good runs at Phoenix into a win?

Ty Majeski secured the pole for tonight’s race, but will he be able to hold off a fast charging Corey Heim who was fastest in practice and Christian Eckes who is hungrier then ever to secure a championship. Last year, Majeski was able to lead 48 laps, and also securing the stage 1 victory, Majeski will have a little extra pep in his step following a fine issued to him after missing media day this past Tuesday. The reason, he went out to go vote. Now you might be asking, how do I know this, well he posted a picture of him with a ‘i voted’ sticker, and reminding people to go do the same. The tweet from Majeski will be shown down below but you have to think, that extra motivation after the fine, definitely helped him secure a pole tonight.
A NASCAR spokesperson said that the team never communicated that the reason behind him missing media day, was to go vote.
Either way though, Majeski’s best track is Richmond where he has been able to secure one win, and lead over 300 laps in 3 races ran. Now they aren’t the same track at all, but very similar in distance. If Majeski is able to translate his Richmond dominance into Phoenix, it might be Majeksi’s championship to lose.

As mentioned before, this season has featured 22 rounds of a heavyweight battle between Corey Heim and Christian Eckes, they are responsible for over 40% of the races won this year, so it was inevitable to have them two in the championship 4.
Remember, Heim himself had a shot at the title until the incident with Hocevar, so you have to think that what happened last season, will be on Heim’s mind this time around, will he be a lot more aggressive and not let people use up his bumper? Will he be afraid to move someone up the track in order to secure a spot. Lots of unknowns when it comes down to a championship deciding race.
Now Corey Heim has lots of motivation coming into this race, plus the knowledge of racing a 1 mile track, in his 2 career races at Gateway, Heim has won both of them. Then you can’t forget about the 2023 Phoenix run, he definitely knows how to race at a 1-miler, and looking at paper and stats, Heim definitely has the best shot at winning this one.
Don’t forget that, Corey Heim and Christian Eckes also had a little run in earlier, following a tire that went down for Heim. Corey slammed Eckes under caution. Now like I said, race car drivers have memories like a elephant, will Corey Heim’s previous encounters cost him a championship this season?
Christian Eckes will look to turn his amazing season, to a championship winning season, he just has one more round against Heim. Sounds easy enough right? Especially since Eckes has won here before and has secured two top 10’s. The only problem, is the other three drivers, who want a championship just as bad as Eckes does.
Eckes will start fourth tonight, which is only third best out of the championship 4. All championship 4 drivers will start in the top 5 here, so there will be lots of moves happening early around him. But with Eckes previous performances at Phoenix and similar tracks, he is my official pick to win the Championship.
If Eckes is able to keep his nose clean through out the night and keep his head in the game during pit stops. Christian Eckes will be your 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Champion.
