While everyone has been waiting for the big signing of the free agency period, which will be no other then Juan Soto, teams like the Angels have been quiet and making big moves this offseason, and teams like the Royals locking down their starting pitcher, Michael Wacha for 51m. Today will be a full update on all moves made so far during this offseason period and players who have so far avoided arbitration

Up to this point, of the writing of this story, sixty-six players have signed new contracts, with the Angels coming up at the top so far spending the most money with 80.2m. In total, the league has a total of value of 282.2m. Thirty-three players avoided arbitration with new contracts. One player got a pre-arbitration extension. 18 players have been involved in trades. 5 international players have been signed. 19 free agents have signed new contracts and three players have signed new extensions.

Nick Martinez comes in as the highest paid player so far coming in with a 1-yr contract for 21,050,000 with the Cincinnati Reds. Martinez was the only player this season to accept his qualifying offer. Martinez played in Texas, then in Japan for four seasons, then to the Padres, and then to the Reds. Martinez has a career ERA of 4.09 with 554 strikeouts.
Yusei Kikuchi has the longest contract signed so far with a 3yr/63m deal, set to be paid out 21m per year. Kikuchi and the Angels agreed to terms, on November 25th after some acquisitions they have already made. It seems like the Angels are in a pursuit to make the playoffs, following the add on of a 4.57 ERA career pitcher with 837 strikeouts.
The Angels have been the most aggressive this first month of the offseason, they have also added catcher, Travis D’arnaud, SS Kevin Newman and SP Kyle Hendricks. With the moves so far, the Angels have added to solid arms to their rotation, a solid catcher in Travis and a really clutch player in Kevin Newman who had done amazing things for the Diamondbacks including some pretty good walkoffs. The signing of these players has brought the Angels total spending up to this point to 81m. This brings the Angels total cash value to 182.3m. Anthony Rendon (38m) and Mike Trout (35.4m) lead the way as the highest paid Angels players.
The Royals (51m) and Braves (43m) come in second and third for most money spent up to this point. The Royals extended their SP Michael Wacha and the Braves extended two of their pitchers, Reynaldo Lopez and Aaron Bummer.
