It’s finally here, we are just under a week away from the Peach Bowl, where the red hot Arizona State Wildcats… Just kidding, i actually do research on my stories. The Big 12 Champions, Arizona State Sun Devils will travel down to Atlanta to face the Longhorns in the 2025 Peach Bowl. Today we will break down Arizona State’s chances at winning the Peach Bowl and sending Texas home.
The Arizona State Sun Devils, who have been led by Head Coach Kenny Dillingham and Senior RB Cam Skattebo. As well as Freshman QB Sam Leavitt. And let’s not forget the defense, who have combined for 60 tackles for losses and 15 INT’s.
Kenny Dillingham in less than two seasons has been able to change the Sun Devils from a team who was chosen to finish last in the Big 12. To a team, who has a genuine chance against Texas in the Peach Bowl. But the sportsbook aren’t thinking the same way i am. The Sun Devils are currently at a +13.5 for the spread, and a +410 for the money line. But just like preseason, and during the regular season. Arizona State has been counted out from the beginning.
Sam Leavitt this season has thrown for 2,663 yards with 24 TD’s and only 5 INT’s. Leavitt also has a completion rating of 63.2 on the season, But be careful letting Leavitt break out of the pocket, as on the season he has 383 rushing yards and 5 rushing TD’s.
Leavitt has only had one game below a 55% completion rating and the Sun Devils were still able to walk away with the win.

Cam Skattebo has been nothing but impressive this season, finishing fifth in Heisman voting, Skattebo is looking to keep his tremendous season going. as four out of his last five games, have all seen him go for over 150 rushing yards. Over 100 of his yards last game came after contact. Skattebo’s impressive ability to stay on balance even after a hit from the D-Line is something that NFL teams will notice.
Jordyn Tyson was also having himself a top-tier season, then suffered an injury in the closing minutes in a game against the Wildcats. Sam Leavitt will need to turn to players like Melquan Stovall, Xavier Guillermo, Malik McClain and Chamon Metayer to get the ball going in the air. Now that is going to be extremely hard when the Longhorns are second in CFB for passing yards allowed.
The Longhorns offensive rushing yards are at a 52nd across CFB, and their passing yards per game has them at 17th. Which will force the Longhorns into passing situations, which is exactly what this ASU defense will want. They have 21 sacks, average 1.6 takeaways per game and have only allowed 32 touchdowns this season.
Now this Longhorns team is going to be tough to beat, don’t get me wrong. But this ASU team is just simply built different. The determination and drive that Head Coach Dillingham has brought into the organization has turned ASU around. Now Kenny will need to find a way to get Skattebo and Leavitt going very early. Skattebo is just a absolute monster, and getting him going early is just obvious. Texas will do everything they can to stop him. But teams have been trying all season, and most haven’t been able to figure it out. Leavitt will also need to connect on almost all his passes and stay out of any danger. Interceptions have been rare for Leavitt but in a game like this. They will prove to be costly. Also keep the Texas defense out there as long as possible. Then let the defense go out and do what they have been all season, getting stops or getting the ball back when it’s most crucial.
The Sun Devils have been underdogs all year, and that +13.5, just proves that even more. Expect the Sun Devils to come out with a chip on their shoulder. Remembering everyone who predicted they’d finish last in the Big 12. The sportsbooks who opened ASU at a +13.5. ASU is coming for blood, and they have absolutely nothing to lose. A team that has nothing to lose, is always a dangerous one.
