58 days until MLB Opening Day

The news has started to slow down just a bit as the Diamondbacks start to prepare for their 2025 campaign. But there are still some positions to be filled, the DH and another relief pitcher. Now Mike Hazen said in a presser yesterday to the media that he is still in a position to spend money this offseason.

“I think bullpen and right-handed hitter are probably the areas we’re still focused in on, not sure where that’s going to take us, but those are the two areas we’re focused in on” – Mike Hazen

That number is believed to be around 10-12m that Hazen will be able to spend in this free agency.

Hazen also mentioned that he is looking to add a reliever via the trade market. He is willing to move starting pitching prospects to complete this trade. Possibly meaning someone like Yilber Diaz could possibly be moved in this deal.

The Diamondbacks are still interested in moving Jordan Montgomery and are willing to eat part of his contract to do so. Per source, the Diamondbacks have considered an offer sending Montgomery for Ernie Clement, a utility infielder from Toronto.

Regarding the DH position, Hazen mentioned that he just doesn’t want a pure DH, he wants someone who is able to give players like Marte and Suarez rest days when needed. Now this means a potential reunion between Randal Grichuk and the Diamondbacks could possibly still be in play, despite his price going up. Personally, i think instead of trying to find the next DH, bring back Grichuk. The fans already know and love him, and brought some memorable moments to the team this past season. A reunion between the two, could be exactly what the Diamondbacks need to consider the batting lineup, ready for Opening Day 2025.

Now the Diamondbacks will have at least one nationally televised game this season, as TBS has announced that on April 1st, 2025. The Arizona Diamondbacks will face off against the New York Yankees at 7PM ET at Yankee Stadium. If all goes to plan, Corbin Burnes may be the possible starter on Tuesday night.

Last but not least, this offseason, before the Burnes signing. I heard lots of people wanting Ken Kendrick to sell the team, since he wasn’t spending.
