Not only did the Old Pueblo Tribe take the field against the Gauchos at Murrieta Park this weekend, but a few of their arms also made some serious waves elsewhere. In what turned out to be a proud moment for the organization, three Tribe pitchers — Kaiden Reeve, Oscar Estrada, and Alex Gamez — were called upon to pitch in a Pecos League game for the Santa Fe Fuego against the Tucson Saguaros. Each of them tossed an inning and left a strong impression in their first-ever professional appearance.

All three pitchers shared a common sentiment afterward: they were thankful. After the game, they reached out to Co-Owner and Coach Marcus Catalano to thank him for opening that door for them — a moment that, for many, felt like the beginning of something bigger.

Oscar Estrada, when asked how it went, gave an honest and humble response — one that truly captured the moment. Alongside sharing the game ball from his outing, Estrada told Mark, “It felt great, I was happy that I was able to do my job and came out good with no runs.”

Estrada and Gamez will both be back on the bump tomorrow, alongside fellow Tribe pitcher Daniel Davila, who made a strong impression on the Fourth of July. Davila threw a clean inning with a strikeout and was credited with the win in that game. Now, he’s aiming to keep that momentum rolling as he makes an appearance with the Fuego.

As for the Tribe’s matchup with the Gauchos, it didn’t end in the win column — but it certainly wasn’t short on highlights. The bats were active, the dugout was loud, and the fireworks weren’t done popping just yet. Hector Torres, already having a solid weekend, came to the plate in the bottom of the sixth and launched a solo homer to left field using his signature Mexican flag-themed bat. That bomb gave him three RBIs in just two days, capping off a stellar showing from one of the Tribe’s emotional leaders.

Marcus Catalano, playing on the five-year anniversary of his own first professional home run, had a little magic of his own. He smoked a ground-rule RBI double and drew a walk, then later stepped onto the mound to close out the ninth inning. Needing just seven pitches to retire the side, he induced weak contact and secured two quick outs, showing off his veteran poise.

Other Tribe players who recorded hits included Angel Faras, Tony Villegas, Gilbert Valenzuela, Anthony Moreno, De La Cruz, and Catalano himself. Jojo Escarsega had a standout night at the plate, finishing with multiple hits. Patience was also a big factor in the offense — the team drew seven walks total, with both Hendrick and Tony Villegas working two apiece.

The Tribe’s next game is coming up this weekend. I’ll be updating Bear Sports News and all our socials once the official time and opponent are confirmed. Stay tuned, and keep supporting your Tribe!
